The first element of creative nonfiction writing is organization. When it comes to creative nonfiction organization of the text can be sporadic. Writing is very flexible and exploratory. There are three common tactics or structures. First some authors write without proving a thesis, second there is using juxtaposition, and thirdly writing chronologically.

The second element is telling the truth. Since the genre is called creative nonfiction, when dealing with this topic is when the non in nonfiction comes into play. Your audience will expect to be reading facts, so that is what you need to write. Instead of using the word truth use the word actual as in actual facts because you can claim to be writing the truth, but it could be your truth and not the actual events that took place.
